Ax-les-Thermes, a thermal town in the Pyrenees with some 1,400 inhabitants, is ideally located at the foot of a number of valleys, with breath-taking landscapes and kilometres of marked hiking trails.
The town is traversed by three rivers: the Lauze, the Oriège and the Ariège and 60 hot springs, supplying water from underground, spurt out all over the village. Experience the unusual delights of soaking your feet in one of the three open air pools after a day’s hiking or skiing.
The Bassin des Ladres pool is an absolute must for anyone visiting the village and it’s not unusual to see skiers and hikers with their feet in the water, unwinding after a day of exertion.
A whole range of services are available in the village centre: bakers, butchers, grocers shop, greengrocers, newsagents, post office etc.
A market is held in the main square every Tuesday and Saturday throughout the year and also on Thursday from June to September.
You’ll also find, for your entertainment: a casino, cinema, disco, thermal spa, numerous bars and restaurants, mini golf, and clay tennis courts etc.
